Remembrance Day 2022

During the period of Remembrance the Antrim Lieutenancy was represented at over 20 events across the width and breadth of the County, which included events on both Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday.

The Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, Mr David McCorkell, led the County in the Act of Remembrance in Carrickfergus this year. For the first time, The Lord-Lieutenant laid a wreath on behalf of His Majesty The King. The Lord-Lieutenant then took the salute.

​He was joined by his Lord-Lieutenant Cadet, Rhys Millar, and the High Sheriff of County Antrim, Mr John Lockett, OBE. On Saturday evening, the Lord-Lieutenant also attended the Queen’s University Annual Remembrance Dinner.

  • Broughshane – Mr Andrew Frazer, DL
  • Bushmills – Dr Peter Fitzgerald, CBE, DL
  • Carnmoney & Glengormley – Mr Danny Kinahan, DL (on 11th November) 
  • Glynn – Dr Sheelagh Hillan, MBE, DL
  • Larne – Mr James Perry, MBE, DL
  • Portrush – Dr Stephen Baillie, TD, DL
  • Whiteabbey – Mrs Jackie Stewart, MBE, DL
  • Whitehead – Mrs Julia Shirley, DL
  • Hebron Church – Dr Stephen Baillie, TD, DL
  • UDR Association, St Saviour’s Church, Connor– Colonel Sam McCammond, UD, VR, DL (on 9th November)

On Sunday 20th November, Mrs Julia Shirley, DL, will represent the Lord-Lieutenant on Rathlin.

The Lord-Lieutenant has expressed his deep thanks to Colonel Stewart Douglas, OBE, DL, who co-ordinated the Antrim Lieutenancy’s attendance with the Royal British Legion Branches.
