This afternoon the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, Mrs Miranda Gordon, DL, has delighted to receive Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales to Carrickfergus.
The Vice Lord-Lieutenant was joined by Lord-Lieutenant Cadet, Cadet Sergeant Rhys Millar, of Air Training Corps 1919 (Newtownabbey) Squadron.
TRHs visited 2022 Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service winners Carrick Connect. Following their engagement, the Vice Lord-Lieutenant presented the High Sheriff of County Antrim, Mr John Lockett, OBE, and the Mayor of Mid & East Antrim Borough Council, Alderman Noel Williams, to TRHs.
This was a particularity special Royal Visit for the County as it was the first time that Their Royal Highnesses have visited Carrickfergus since they were given the Northern Irish titles of Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus, by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on their wedding day, along with the Dukedom of Cambridge and Earldom of Strathearn. It was also their first visit to Northern Ireland as the Prince and Princess of Wales, following their appointment by King Charles III after the death of The Queen.
