Remembrance Day 2023

During the period of Remembrance the Antrim Lieutenancy was represented at over 20 events across the width and breadth of the County, which included events on both Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday.

This year His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, Mr David McCorkell, led the County in the Act of Remembrance in Carnmoney & Glengormley on Saturday and on Sunday in Ballymena in the morning and Antrim in the afternoon. The Lord-Lieutenant laid wreaths on behalf of His Majesty The King. The Lord-Lieutenant then took the salute at both events on Remembrance Sunday.

​The High Sheriff of County Antrim, Mr Peter Mackie, DL, also attended the events in Ballymena and Antrim.

All three Lord-Lieutenant Cadets attended events with the Lord-Lieutenant:

Antrim: Cadet Corporal Faith Steen, Antrim Detachment,  1st NI Battalion ACF, Royal Engineers
Ballymena: Cadet Staff Sergeant Kaitlyn Beggs, Carrickfergus Detachment, 1st NI Battalion ACF, Royal Engineers
Carnmoney & Glengormley: Cadet Company Sergeant Major Aimee Milevsky, Moira Detachment, 2nd NI Battalion ACF, Royal Military Police (RMP)

  • UDR Association, St Saviour’s Church, Connor– Mr Freddie Hall, OBE, QGM, DL (on 8th November)

On Sunday 19th November, The Earl of Antrim, DL, will represent the Lord-Lieutenant on Rathlin.

The Lord-Lieutenant has expressed his sincere thanks to Colonel Stewart Douglas, OBE, DL, who co-ordinated the Antrim Lieutenancy’s attendance with the Royal British Legion Branches.
