Royal Visit – The King and Queen visit Coronation Garden

​Yesterday the Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, Mr David McCorkell, received His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen to open Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Coronation Garden, designed by Diarmuid Gavin.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross, escorted The King, and The Queen, escorted by the Chief Executive of Antrim and Newtownabbey Council, (Mrs Jacqueline Dixon, toured the Garden, meeting the design, construction and gardening teams, and viewing the Coronation Robe Project and the Coronation Microgreens Horticulture Project. Their Majesties met representatives from the local community and officially opened the Coronation Garden.

The Lord-Lieutenant was accompanied by his Lord-Lieutenant Cadet, Cdt Sgt Kaitlyn Beggs, of 1st (NI) Bn ACF.

The High Sheriff of County Antrim, Mr Peter MackieDL, was in attendance.
